  EMC and Delhi College of Engineering SIGN EDUCATION AGREEMENT  
     
 

New Delhi , April 05, 2006 : EMC ( Benelux ) B.V. SARL (EMC), a subsidiary of EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage and Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) today signed an agreement where DCE will offer information storage and management courses as part of its curriculum from July 2006. The agreement was signed by Prof. P. B. Sharma, Principal , DCE and Mr. Paul T Dacier, Director of EMC. The agreement was signed in presence of Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Delhi and Shri Prakash Kumar, IAS, Secretary of Information Technology, Government of Delhi and Mr. Manoj Chugh, Country Manager, EMC India and SAARC.

DCE is the first Nodal Academy in the EMC Academy Program (EAP) in India , targeted at building a resource pool of information storage and management professionals in the country.

As an EMC Nodal Academy , DCE will act as the regional hub for the EMC Academy Program in North India . DCE will support EMC in identifying and appointing other educational institutions and training the faculty of the other institutes in the region. EMC will provide the curriculum, course content, learning material, faculty training and software simulators for the program. EMC would also provide program support in terms of examination papers, and sample assignments .

Speaking on the occasion Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon'ble Chief Minister stressed on the need of closure Industry-Academia Interaction which is vital for assuring high quality of Education & Training. Smt. Dikshit informed that the Govt. of Delhi is firmly committed to making Delhi as the knowledge hub of India . She congratulated DCE for establishing synergetic partnership with World's leading IT companies. She hoped that DCE EMC partnership shall foster a new era of Industry-Institution interaction and will benefit besides budding IT Professionals, the working professionals in Government of Delhi offices.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. P. B Sharma, Principal, DCE, said,
“DCE is committed to world class quality of technical education & research in the country. This agreement with EMC will enable DCE students to learn about information storage and management, the fastest growing segment of the IT industry. We are delighted to enter into an agreement with EMC for setting up the EMC Academy at DCE and look forward to producing graduates that are prepared and skilled for the challenges of the world today”.

Elaborating on the EMC Academy Program, Mr. Manoj Chugh, Country Manager, EMC India & SAARC, said, “Increasingly, Indian organizations want to build an intelligent information infrastructure. They need access to a large pool of skilled information management and storage professionals and the EMC Academy Program was created to bridge that divide. Today EMC is proud to partner with Delhi College of Engineering to make a significant step in meeting the estimated global demand of 7.5 million skilled information storage and management professionals by 2007*.

“EMC plans to sign up to 50 institutions in this program by the end of 2006, so that our students are ready to contribute to one of the fastest growing segments in the IT industry”, he added.

The course on storage technology will benefit the students of graduate and post graduate level courses from DCE's Computer Science, IT, Electronics and Communications disciplines. It will also benefit students of institutes that sign up as EMC Academies in North India , under the nodal leadership of DCE. On successful completion of the course, students will get a certificate from DCE and EMC certifying that the student has successfully completed the program. All certified students will be better prepared to clear the EMC Associate Storage Technologist Examination , the world's most recognized information and storage management certification exam.
