The Department of Applied Physics is providing a sound science base for all engineering disciplines in their I and II semester. The courses of the II semester are designed to serve the need for a particular branch of engineering. The department has well equipped labs for B.E. students where experiments are designed to broaden experimental skill related to various branches of engineering and technology.
The Department also offers a part-time M.Sc. program in Applied Physics. This program has been specially designed to meet the requirements of the scientists, working in various research laboratories and industrial organizations in and around Delhi. Major emphasis in this program is laid on Electronics, Material science, Applied Optics including Laser and Fiber Optics and Instrumentation. A proposal is already sent to University of Delhi for permission to offer a full-time M. Sc. program in Applied Physics.
Applied Physics Department has taken lead to establish “TIFAC-Centre of Relevance & Excellence (CORE) in Fiber Optics and Optical Communication at DCE-Delhi” under “Mission Reach” program of Technology Vision-2020, Govt. of India. Under this scheme, the department will be offering a new two-year M.E. program in Microwave and Optical Communication, in collaboration with ECE and IT Departments of the college. This program has the approval of AICTE and is expected to start from this academic session, subject to approval of Delhi University.
