The UG curriculum is broad-based and designed to introduce the students with a wide range of problems encountered by civil and environment engineers. Electives and independently conducted projects are offered in the final year to enable the student to develop additional depth in areas of special interest to them. Survey camp and practical training which are the part of curriculum, aim to provide an exposure to the students to actual field problems. Laboratory experiments, computer aided analysis, design & drawing and the tutorial are held to build confidence among the students.
The Post-graduate curriculum prepares the students for research and design-with an emphasis on practical problems. These students also undertake a research project, the problem for which is picked up from day to day requirements of the industry and design organisations, besides taking part in the seminars.
PhD Programs
The Department is well equipped with laboratories in Structures, Material testing, Soil mechanics, Highway Engineering, Experimental Stress Analysis, Computational mechanics, Educational Technology, Photogrammetery & GIS facilities, Environmental Engineering and Hydraulics. The Department also undertakes to organize special lectures and discussions by eminent personel from the field and industry.
The Department has a student chapter of Society for Experimental mechanics, Inc. 7 School Street, Bethel, CT 06801, USA. The interested students may become member with SEMI DCE student chapter.
The Department of Civil & Environment Engineering lay greater emphasis on quality research and industrial design and development. Excellent facilities are available to conduct research for the award of PhD degree of University of Delhi in the following disciplines of Civil Engineering:
Structural Engg., Structural Dynamics, Earth Quake Engineering, Water Resources Engg., Environmental Engg., Experimental mechanics.
MHRD scholarships are available for the Full time PhD students and these are awarded to the selected students who pursue a research career. In addition, AICTE, UGC, CSIR, DST and other scholarship awardees can also take up PhD program in the departments.
