- The Department has well-developed following laboratories:
- Electrical Machines Laboratory
- Power Systems Laboratory
- Power Electronics Laboratory
- FACTS Laboratory
- Control Systems Laboratory
- Measurement Laboratory
- Instrumentation Laboratory
- Intelligent Computing Laboratory
- Microprocessor Laboratory
The laboratories are equipped with sophisticated equipments and test set-ups for research work in on-going areas like FACTS, HVDC, AI systems etc. The PG and UG students have the facility of advanced software packages like MATLAB, SIMULINK, Auto CAD, P-SPICE and components like microprocessors, microcontrollers, PLC and instruments like spectrum analyzer) logic analyzer etc. The ever increasing demand for electric energy, faster and novel means of audio and video communication systems and the automation in industry etc., have made the electrical engineering an indispensable member of the modem society. Under the worsening energy crisis, the role of electrical engineer comprises of the design and development of more efficient electrical machinery, power systems, control equipments and systems. The faculty of Electrical Engineering Department has rich field experience and innovative ideas. They have published more than 20 papers in international journals during 2003-04 and the senior faculty members are the reviewers of research papers of international journals. The department conducts short term faculty development programs sponsored by AICTE/ISTE and a national conference every year. The department has proposed PG program in bioinformatics and power apparatus system. AICTE visited the department on March 31, 2004 for the introduction of these courses. The faculty of the department is highly qualified with quality research orientation. Facilities are available in the department to conduct research for the award of Ph.D. degree of University of Delhi in the following disciplines of Electrical Engineering. Electrical Machines and Drives, Power Systems, Control Systems, Power Electronics MHRD scholarships are available for the Full time Ph.D. students and these are awarded to the selected students who wish to pursue research career. In addition, AICTE, UGC, CSIR, DST and other scholarship awardees can also take up Ph.D. program common to all departments.
