Delhi College Of Engineering
With
a history stretching back over 65 years, DCE is strongly identified with evolutionary
technical education in India. An institution which has seen innumerable highly
skilled engineers pass through, and left a mark on their personas. It is perhaps
a hallmark of DCE that it is a home to new ideas and innovation. A place where
staff members and students alike are never impervious to new thoughts. And
a place which has long served as a germinating ground for ideas, which often
end up becoming success stories. DCE has entered the new era of education
fully equipped with modern educational facilities and ready to take forth
the tradition of success. Thus it may be concluded that DCE continues to be
a place where success is a religion and innovation the Bible.
Delhi college of engineering (initially established with
the name- Delhi Polytechnic) came into existence in 1940 to cater the needs
of Indian Industries for skilled manpower with sound practical and theoretical
knowledge.
*In 1965, the Delhi Polytechnic was renamed as Delhi College of Engineering
and became the first engineering college of Delhi .
*DCE is the mother institution for IIT-Delhi, School of Planning and Architecture-Delhi,
NSIT, College of Arts and College of Pharmacy. FMS a premier management institute
was also founded by Prof. A Dasgupta of Delhi College of Engineering.
*DCE today imparts education and training in 10 branches of engineering at
Graduate level with an intake of 570 during the morning session; 4 part-time
B.Tech Degree programs are being run in the evening with an intake of 120.
Full-time and part-time PG education is given in 11 specialized fields of
science and engineering with an intake of 172. Our Ph.D. program awards scholarship
to 25 students.

IN 2006, DCE MINI BAJA TEAM FINISHED ELEVENTH IN THE WORLD EVENT HELD IN SOUTH AFRICA
DCE FORMULA STUDENT CAR PARTICIPATED IN THE FORMULA STUDENT RACE IN U.K.
DCE SUPER MILEAGE TEAM FINISHED EIGHTEENTH IN THE US, DESPITE HAVING THE CAR DAMAGED IN THE CARGO.
DCE DEVELOPED A HYBRID CAR WHICH FINISHED FIRST IN THE U.S. IN SINGLE SEATER HYBRID CAR CATEGORY.
THIS YEAR, DCE ALSO INVENTED AN UNMANNED AREAL VEHICLE, WHICH PARTICIPATED IN THE U.S.THIS U.A.V. WAS AN AMBITIOUS PROJECT,FUNDED ENTIRELY BY THE GOVERNMENT.
THIS YEAR DCE HAS TAKEN THE STEP FORWARD BY UNDERTAKING THE DEVELOPMENT OF UNMANNED GROUND VEHICLE, UNMANNED UNDERWATER SUBMARINE AND OF COURSE,
‘THE PROJECT SOLARIS’.
DCE is home to many technical events throughout the year
organized by the student chapters of technical societies.
These events witness extensive participation by the students of various other
colleges too, and serve as a liaison center with the industry.
The major technical events organised are: –Repertoire and Troika are organised
by IEEE-DCE chapter which are techno-centric. –SAE-DCE student chapter organises
INNOVA every year which encompasses many technical events. –Various techweeks
are organised in the college premises, the purpose behind these efforts is
to expose the students to the current trends in the technical world, plus
these events provide testing grounds for the talents of our students.
