Delhi: June 24, 2010: Almost 8500 students have applied for the undergraduate engineering (B.Tech.) courses of Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, this year. The University has received these applications against 14 B.Tech programmes offered in varied disciplines like Electronics & Communication., Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Production & Industrial, Environmental, Polymer Science & Chemical Technology, IT, Bio-Technology, Software, Electrical and Electronics, Automotive, and Engineering Physics, with a total intake of 910 seats.
It is worth mentioning here that for the first time DTU, earlier DCE, has made independent admissions after being accorded University status. Till last year, it used to make combined admissions with Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT). The combined applications received by DCE/ DTU and NSIT last year were around 10071 (including approx. 6700 for DCE-NSIT and 3200 for DTU). The University has also witnessed a boom in its M.Tech. applications with almost 1980 students applying for the postgraduate courses this year. The substantial increase in the number of applications for both B.Tech. and M.Tech. courses of DTU clearly indicates its growing popularity and credibility among students, parents and society, after being upgraded into a Technological University.
DTU has also started a service on its website www.dce.edu which allows students to check the status of their application (whether it has been received by the University) by filling in their AIEEE rank. Students can moreover, receive updates on admissions by subscribing to the sms service initiated by the University. For B.Tech. courses, one needs to send an sms -- ON DelTech-UG10 and for M.Tech. courses one needs to send an sms -- ON DTU-ME10 – at 9870807070. One can also receive admission updates through email by registering email id at www.admissions.dce.edu/Sections/services.php.
The University will be starting its First Counselling for B.Tech. programmes from July 7, 2010 (Wednesday) where applicants have to appear as per their AIEEE rank to seek admission. For M.Tech. courses, the list of eligible candidates for interviews will be uploaded on the University website www.dce.edu on June 28, 2010.
