Delhi: December 29, 2010: Delhi Technological University (DTU), formerly Delhi College of Engineering, is gearing up to host TEDxDTU, (where x=independently organized TED event) on January 31, 2011. TEDx program has the unique concept designed to give communities, organizations and individuals an opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED like experience on a community to community basis. In the same spirit of promoting ideas worth spreading, DTU is organizing TEDxDTU, with a focus on “Celebrating the spirit of Social Entrepreneurship - Driven with the vision to create better ways to help people grow”.
At TEDxDTU, Talks videos and live speakers will spark deep discussion and connection in a group. The event shall see several eminent speakers speaking on social entrepreneurship including Mr. Suhel Seth, Managing Partner of Counselage India and Chairman of the National Marketing Committee of both CII and FICCI for 2010-11; Mr. Jagdeep S. Chhokar, who has retired as Professor of Management and Organisational Behaviour from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad; Ms. Saloni Malhotra, co-founder of DesiCrew who has been nominated for BusinessWeek's Asia's Youngest Entrepreneurs, MTV Youth Icon 2008 and the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year 2008; Mr. Arbind Singh, Founder of Nidan, a non-profit organization for informal labour; Ms. Tricia Morente, Head of Strategy and Marketing at LifeSpring; and Mr. Yashveer Singh, Co- Founder of The National Social Entrepreneurship Forum, to mention prominent names.
Mr. Harihar Dash, finalist of India’s Got Talent will also be present at the event. The young talented man famous for his dance form of Locking and Popping is likely make a direct youth connect. TEDxDTU is being spearheaded by the Entrepreneurship Cell of the University under the guidance of Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU.
