Vice Chancellor, DTU bestowed with STAR News Award for “Outstanding Contribution to Education”

Delhi: February 16, 2011: Prof. P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Delhi Technological University has been awarded the STAR News National B-School Award for “Outstanding Contribution to Education” at the recently held Award Function at Mumbai organised by the STAR News National B-School Awards. The award to Prof. Sharma is in recognition of outstanding leadership, development of the institute and its industry interface.

            Prof. Sharma also received the STAR News National B-School Award of “Outstanding Engineering Institute Award” for Delhi Technological University at the same function. The award for institute is in recognition of excellent placements, outstanding alumni and for strong industry interface.

            It may be added that the DCE, now DTU, has a strong alumni presence worldwide. Its alumni include a large number of highly successful techno-entrepreneurs and industry leaders recognized worldwide for their engineering and technology excellence. The names include Vinod Dham, the father of Pentium Chip, Raj Soin the Chairman of Soin International and CMD of Modern Technology Incorporated, Shri. Ashwani Kumar current CMD of Bharat Electronics Limited, Shri. A.K. Purwaha current CMD of Engineers India Limited, Shri. A.K. Sardana, CMD of Tata Power to name a few.

            The strong interface with industry is well exhibited in campus placements. This year already 662 job offers have already been received from 113 leading industries while two more months are still there for the placement season.
